“Love Next Door” is a charming neighborhood romance that follows a woman on her journey to reshape her troubled life and confront her shadowy past. The tale of Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu, childhood friends who share their secrets, brings them back together at a pivotal moment in their lives, filled with delightful humor and heartwarming moments. With the reunion of director Yoo Je-won from “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” and writer Shin Ha-eun, there’s a buzz of excitement for yet another beautifully crafted healing romantic comedy from tvN.
The recently released character posters showcase the radiant smiles of four young men and women, shining like sunlight and bringing a sense of comfort just by being seen. Choi Seung-hyo, who describes himself as a “self-proclaimed perfect man” but is seen by others as merely “the son of a mother’s friend,” captivates with his charming eye contact, sparking excitement. His line, “You came back in the spring of my 34th year, today,” hints at a reunion with Bae Seok-ryu, the “daughter of a mother,” who is set to introduce some thrilling chaos into his life, heightening curiosity. There’s a lot of anticipation surrounding Jung Hae-in as he takes on his first romantic comedy role, eager to win over the hearts of women.
Bae Seok-ryu’s unique and endearing personality is truly captivating. However, as you get to know him, you realize that he has undergone a significant transformation. It makes you wonder what led to this change in the life of Bae Seok-ryu, who was once the pride of his successful mother, Choi Seung-hyo. The determination to “reboot my life that was a mistake” brings focus to Bae Seok-ryu’s life reset project. Jung So-min’s passionate acting is also something to look forward to, as it will surely evoke genuine empathy from the audience.
Kim Ji-eun takes on the character of Jeong Mo-eum, an eccentric hero who feels incredibly real. She shares a close friendship with Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu, having grown up together like the Three Musketeers, and she holds a deep understanding of their troubled past. With her vibrant and playful smile that hints at a bit of mischief, she captivates attention with her declaration, “I have the DNA of a superhero flowing through my body,” sparking intrigue about the 119 paramedic Jeong Mo-eum.
Yoon Ji-on brings a delightful charm to the role of Kang Dan-ho, a friendly social affairs reporter with a knack for using people. His warm smile and the quote “The pen is mightier than the sword, and the sunlight is stronger than the wind” pique interest in both the character and the person behind it. As Kang Dan-ho settles in next to Jeong Mo-eum and becomes a part of Hye-reung-dong as a ‘new face’, viewers are left wondering about his mysterious past.
The production team mentioned that the story of four young men and women who meet and become entangled in the warm and friendly neighborhood of Hyeolleung-dong will be captivating. They also stated that through dreams and reality, friendship and love, and the joys and sorrows of life, they aim to bring laughter and excitement, as well as empathy and comfort.
