KBS 2TV is set to premiere its new weekend drama ‘Iron Family’ in September, featuring a script by Seo Sook-hyang and direction by Sung Joon-hae. This romantic black comedy revolves around Darim, a straightforward laundry shop owner, whose family finds themselves laundering money rather than garments.
‘Iron Family‘ will showcase the talents of Kim Jung-hyun and Geum Sae-rok, both known for their profound acting abilities and elegance. They will be joined by seasoned actors Kim Young-ok, Park In-hwan, Shin Hyun-joon, Park Ji-young, and Kim Hye-eun, who bring a wealth of experience to the production, promising to deliver the true spirit of a black comedy drama.
Additionally, Choi Tae-joon and Yang Hye-ji, recognized for their strong acting skills and varied appeal, have also been confirmed for the cast, rounding out an eagerly awaited ensemble. ‘Iron Family’ is set to enrich its engaging storyline with the exceptional performances of its distinctive actors, offering viewers heartfelt moments and laughter during weekend evenings.
Kim Jung-hyun is set to portray Seo Kang-joo, the heir to the wealthiest family in Cheongryeom-dong and the executive director of Jisung Group. Geum Sae-rok will take on the role of Lee Da-rim, the youngest daughter of a laundromat owner who was enchanted by Kang-joo’s narrative during her university years. After an unforgettable encounter with Kang-joo, who is preparing to enter military service, Da-rim reunites with him eight years later. Kang-joo continues to feel a deep attraction towards her. The dynamic interplay between the pretentious Kang-joo, who prioritizes personal connections over wealth, and Da-rim, who is intolerant of pity, is a key highlight of ‘Iron Family.’ This raises anticipation regarding how Kim Jung-hyun and Geum Sae-rok will bring to life these characters, who navigate a spectrum of emotions. Choi Tae-joon will portray Cha Tae-woong, a part-time employee at the laundromat.
Tae-woong, abandoned at birth and raised in an orphanage, now navigates the world alone as an adult. His warm and friendly nature has led him to find a sense of family with the Clean Laundry household. Witnessing Kang-joo’s mistreatment of Da-rim, Tae-woong steps in to protect her like a caring older brother. The tension between Kim Jung-hyun and Choi Tae-joon, along with their undeniable chemistry, adds to the anticipation of what’s to come.
Yang Hye-ji takes on the role of Lee Cha-rim, the second daughter of the Clean Laundry family. Known as the beauty of Cheongryeom-dong, Cha-rim is a member of the MZ generation with strong opinions on love and a bold fashion sense. Despite lacking affection from her mother, who favored her younger sister Da-rim, Cha-rim uses this as motivation to carve out her own path in life. Working as a designer at Jiseung Group out of her love for fashion, she finds herself at odds with her quirky boss, Kang-joo, on various matters.
Specifically, Geum Sae-rok and Yang Hye-ji portrayed the roles of Da-rim and Cha-rim, two sisters with a complex dynamic of love and animosity. The contrast between the older sister, who constantly yielded to her ailing younger sibling, and the younger sister, burdened with guilt over her family’s sacrifices, is likely to resonate with audiences on a deeply emotional level.
